The programme for Penfest 2019 is still under development but we thought you would like a preview to get your diary marked up.

Here are some of the goodies in store:

Thursday 5th September : Art pieces will be accepted in room 1 for the Penicuik Turner prize between 2.00pm and 4.00pm and from 7.00pm till 9.00pm.

Saturday 7th September: Opening of Annual Open Exhibitoin and Turenr Prize 2.00pm -4.00pm

Sunday 8th September: Michelle Diverx, a young violinist, will give a recital in room 1 from 2.00pm-3.00pm

Monday 9th September: Opening of Exhibition in St James the Less church. Times to be confirmed

Tuesday 10th September: Clair Hastings, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2015, is appearing at Penicuik Folk Club at 8.00pm. The Folk Club meet in Shottstown Miners’ . Claire is a fine singer. Tickets £10 (£8 for Folk Club members) available at the door on the night.

Wednesday 11th Spetember: Aine Divine, local artist, will be in room 1 as guest of the Art Group. All are welcome. Tickets are £5 and will be available from early July.

Saturday 14th September: a special concert in room1. Sandy Brechin and Gregor Borland will be in room 1. Concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £12 (£10 for PCAA members) will be on sale from early July

Sunday 15th September: story telling and activities for children. There will be 2 story telling events for children. One is for nursery-aged children from 10.00am-11.0am and a second for children in early primary school from 11.30am to 12.30am. These events are free but ticketed. Tickets will be available from the beginning of July. A drop-in activites session for children up to age10 will will be open from 10.00am till 12.30pm. This session is also free. These sessions are sponsored by Taylor Wimpy.

Sunday 15th September: The penicuik Turner Prize and the winner of the People’s Choice Trophy will be announced between 2.0pm and 4.00pm.

Christina Suter, the weaver across the road from the Arts Centre, will open her weaving studio on both weekends of the festival.
