Welcome to the Community Covid response Art Project. The exhibits can be viewed by clicking here – the link will become active on Saturday 26th September at 10am).
The Penicuik Community Development Trust and the Penicuik Community Council kindly offered us funds to buy materials for Art Packs to give to anyone in the Penicuik area who wants to take part. The Art Packs contain a good set of acrylic paints, a couple of rigid paper plates to act as palettes, paint brushes, pencils and five pieces of A5 card to paint on.
No “skill” or “experience” is needed – we are just encouraging participants to think about how covid lockdown was for them – how they felt, what they did, what they missed, what was difficult, anything that was good – etc – and to splurge it out in colour and/or drawings on the cards. There is no obligation, but we’re hoping that people taking part will offer us at least one of their art works for a wee exhibition. We’re waiting to see how many people do this, but we’re hoping to display the work in the West Street Arts Centre window. The work will be displayed anonymously, but there will be a list of contributors on show too.
The works will also be photographed, and can be viewed by clicking here (the link will become active on Saturday 26th September at 10am).
Originally, the project was aimed for Penfest week, but if you would like an Art Pack after that time, please do get in touch – there may be extra funding for more packs. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
