The Penicuik Community arts Association (PCAA) is putting together a wee illustrated booklet of poems written by YOU! Local artist will be invited to illustrate the work or you may prefer to illustrate your own work.
Maybe you’ve already had a go at writing poetry? Maybe you’ve never written a poem before but think you’d like to try? Maybe you write song lyrics? That’s poetry too!
This is Penicuik’s own poetry booklet, and all your offerings are welcome.
To help you make a start, and learn a bit about how to go about it, we’re offering a FREE workshop (Saturday 25th June 2pm OR on Sunday 26th June 2pm) with Gerda Stevenson with FREE one-to-one follow-up. Gerda is a world-famous writer and actress and lives in Carlops. She’s performed at Penicuik Arts Centre in the past and is an experienced workshop leader for people of all ages and experience. Spaces are strictly limited, so do apply early. (Email Sue firstname.lastname@example.org or phone/text 0781 5052929)
Poems can be any length up to 500 words.
Your poem can be about anything at all. If you’d like to focus on a theme, then you could write about any aspect of life in Penicuik and the surrounding area, now, in the past, or hopes for the future.
Poems are invited from anyone aged 12 to 102 years old
The PCAA committee will edit the book with Gerda’s help, and the decisions of the editing committee are final.
We’re hoping to get it printed in time to launch during PENFEST 2021 (25th September – 4th October).
